This unique collector's item is a vintage-inspired, single-direction lantern modeled after the antique miner's lamp typically mounted on hard hats. These miners' lamps were traditionally powered by gas and lit with a flame. Our updated version features a dimmable 3-watt LED light and has a removable, rechargeable LI-ON battery. It has a strong magnetic base and features anti-slip materials so it can be placed on any metal surface and stay put. The matte brass feels heavy and comfortable in the hand, while solid copper and polished aluminum accents add a premium, luxury quality. Beautiful and eye-catching, this lantern can be displayed indoors as a conversation piece. Due to the nature of the materials used, this lantern will tarnish to a pleasing patina over time - just like the real deal.

In 1946, President Truman ordered the seizure of coal mines to end a strike. Part of the settlement with the United Mine Workers Union was an agreement to survey the health and safety of the miners' working and living conditions. Russell Lee was contracted to document the study with photographs. The powerful images were published in 1947.
