GETTING TO THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES IN WASHINGTON, DC

The National Archives is located in downtown Washington, DC at 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The research entrance is located on Pennsylvania Avenue, and the museum entrance is located on Constitution Avenue.

METRO

Take Metrorail’s Yellow or Green lines to the Archives/Navy Memorial station. The Archives/Navy Memorial stop is across Pennsylvania Avenue from the Archives building. You will need to walk around the building and enter on the Constitution Avenue side to visit the museum.

GARAGE PARKING

The following parking facilities are located within a two-block walk of the museum. Parking fees range from $10 – $20, depending on the time of day and length of time parked.

  • 600 block of 9th Street, NW: Parking garage located in the Gallup Organization Building, on 9th Street between F & G Streets, NW.

  • 900 Block of E Street, NW: Parking garage located on E Street between 9th and 10th Streets, near the corner of 9th and E Streets, NW across from the J. Edgar Hoover FBI Headquarters.

  • 600 block of F Street, NW: Parking garage located across from the Verizon Center in the Terrell Place Building, on F Street, NW between 6th and 7th Streets, NW.

  • 800 block of D Street, NW: Two parking garages are located on D Street between 8th and 9th Streets, NW, on each side of the street.

  • 400 block of 8th Street, NW: Parking garage located within the Lansburgh Building, on 8th Street between D and E Streets, NW near the Café Atlantico restaurant.

  • 500 block of 8th Street, NW: Parking garage located within the DLA Piper Building, on 8th Street between E and F Streets, NW


STREET PARKING

Limited street parking is available on 7th Street, Constitution Avenue, and throughout the neighborhood. Spaces are metered with a two-hour maximum. All must pay to park in the Central Business District (CBD) and only individuals with disability placards and tags may pay to park at Red Top Meters.


BUS

Metrobuses 30, 32, 34, 36, 53, A42, A46, A48, P1, P2, P4, P17, P19, and W13 stop at the National Archives on Pennsylvania Avenue. You will need to walk around the building and enter on the Constitution Avenue side to visit the museum.
