• Indigenous artist Leila Stogan’s design work is inspired by the power and strength of the legendary thunderbird. Using textiles to tell stories, reflect on ancestral traditions and to illustrate a connection to nature, these ladies' kneesocks make the perfect canvas for displaying her stunning and colorful woven design.

The National Archives holds hundreds of thousands of records related to Native Americans, dating back to as early as 1774. These include photographs, original treaties, records from Indian Schools, census records, and Bureau of Indian Affairs records. Hundreds of treaties between the U.S. and Native American tribal nations are now freely available online through the National Archives Catalog.

The online exhibit “Rights of Native Americans” also features a visual timeline of the history of Native American treaties and activism, highlighting tribal sovereignty and cultural preservation.
