Hang out with George! These George Washington quarter earrings are bound to be a conversation piece. The outline of our number one President has been intricately hand cut from an antique silver quarter and hooked together with another cut quarter, forming a hoop that swings freely. The year stamps of the coins also remain visible, while all other details have been cut away.

The Washington quarter was introduced into circulation in 1932 in commemoration of the bicentennial of the birth of the United States’ first President. It permanently replaced the standing Liberty quarter. The Washington quarter was struck in silver until 1964, when the rising price of the precious metal created a coin shortage, because quarters and half dollars were being hoarded. Coins struck after 1964 contained no silver.
