  • Drafted by 33 year old Thomas Jefferson between June 11 and June 28, 1776, the Declaration of Independence is the nation's most cherished symbol of liberty. It was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, and announced that the 13 American colonies, then at war with Great Britain, regarded themselves as independent states and no longer a part of the British Empire. Instead, they formed a union that would become a new nation--the United States of America.

The original Declaration is on permanent exhibit in the Rotunda at the National Archives Museum.

Declaration of Independence Ornament

I collect historical ornaments and this one is perfect. It is made in the US of marble stone and comes in a gift box. It is so well made, you can read the signatures. This is one ornament everyone would be proud to own.

Thank you for your feedback, Patricia! We completely agree with you and are delighted you're enjoying it.

Wonderful ornaments

All ornaments, the Declarations and the Constitution, are well made and easy to read. And should last another 250 years! 🇺🇸

An ornament for all seasons

Beautifully designed, meticulously crafted, this ornament deserves pride of place on our Christmas tree, right nest to the Stars and Stripes ornament and the Statue of Liberty ornament from the Bicentennial. And at Christmas, it will hang right there -- but in the meantime, I plan to keep it on display in our home every day because... It. Is. Just. That. Important.

Smaller than I thought

Wish these were more like 3 x 3" than 1.5 x 1.5.
