On June 26, 2015 the United States Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage is a legal right. This important ruling requires that all fifty states recognize the marriages of same-sex couples, as guaranteed by the due process clause and the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment to the United States Constitution.
