  • Add to your outfit the grace and elegance of cherry blossoms with this beautiful scarf celebrating the pinks of the spring blooms.

  • Every spring in Washington celebrates the cherry blossom trees and their beautiful pink and white flowers that bloom in late March. The majority of the trees are located near the Tidal Basin, where they are most popularly viewed.

The Japanese cherry trees were a gift from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo City to the city of Washington on March 27, 1912. Ozaki donated the trees in an effort to enhance the growing friendship between the United States and Japan and also to celebrate the continued close relationship between the two nations. From before the Treaty of Kanagawa to recent times, the National Archives holds many records related to the United States' relationship with Japan.
