Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham began dating after meeting at Yale Law School in 1971. Bill first proposed during a graduation trip to England, but Hillary declined. After repeated proposals, they married in the living room of their Fayetteville, Arkansas, house in 1975. Concerned about keeping her identity and accomplishments separate to those of her husband, Hillary did not take the name Clinton until his gubernatorial campaign in 1982.
