Cherry Blossom Charm with Diamond Astrid Necklace

  • Handcrafted in Brooklyn, New York
  • Sterling silver
  • 3/8 inch diameter silver blossom charm
  • 15 inch silver chain
  • Handcrafted in New York City from environmentally responsible renewed precious metal, this beautiful cherry blossom charm inlaid with a diamond chip is a special piece that sparkles. Like a delicate cherry blossom floating on the air, this pretty bloom hangs on a sterling silver chain. Hand-carved, it was designed by artist Page Sargisson, who is inspired by the textures, shapes, and history of objects in the environment. In an effort to offset the environmentally damaging process of mining, the charm is made from recycled and refined silver. Whenever possible, Sargisson’s studio uses recycled metal chains and is in compliance with resolutions set forth by the U.N. and the Kimberly Process diamond certification scheme.

  • Spring in Washington celebrates the cherry trees and their beautiful pink and white flowers that bloom in late March. Every year, Cherry Blossom Festival performers put on a colorful show right in front of the National Archives steps. The majority of the trees are located near the Tidal Basin, where they are most popularly viewed. The Japanese cherry trees were a gift from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo City to the city of Washington on March 27, 1912. The National Archives holds many records related to the United States' relationship with Japan.
