Looking behind the scenes, in the vaults and stacks, readers will discover real and unexpected connections to the records. The book and exhibition stimulate new ways of thinking about documentary materials and the importance of keeping, using, and caring for the records in the National Archives and making them accessible to everyone.

Featuring more than 150 documents, photographs, audio transcripts, and video stills, as well as images from the exhibition, this book shows why records matter.

Excellent Exhibition Book!

I LOVED this book and read through it in just a few sittings. I'll use it for the pictures, to help my students engage with primary source documents.
