Fire Extinguisher Cocktail Shaker

  • Handmade in brass; nickel-plated outside, silver-plated inside
  • Food grade safe
  • Eccentric and functional
  • Original cork details
  • Threaded caps
  • Shake your guests' drinks with a historic conversation piece. This shaker is made after an original design from the 1920s. During Prohibition, decorative designs that differed from the classic shaker shape were in fashion to make them less easily recognized by the police.

  • Over the course of our history, Americans have engaged in debates about alcohol and its place in our society. Government programs and policies have ranged from promoting drink-related industries to warning of the health dangers of drinking and driving, to outright prohibition of alcohol manufacturing and sales. Few issues have generated such passion among citizens in addition to government interest. Alcohol-related records in the holdings of the National Archives--posters, government created films, patent drawings, artifacts, and petitions--explore the surprising role of the federal government in regulating, promoting, investigating, and prohibiting alcohol production, sale, and consumption.

Great Home Bar Idea

Saw this last week when I was shopping in the Archives Store and I thought, "what the heck, I'm going to get this." At $240, it is a bit pricey; but I have to say, it is well worth it. Superb quality, and really adds a conversation piece to my home bar. It has a built in ice strainer to allow me to make my favorite cocktails effortlessly. This is exactly the kind of unexpected thing I like about dropping by the Archives Gift Store - they always have really interesting and great quality items that I never knew I needed until I see them.
**Shout out to James at the store for telling me the great history behind this item and the details of the craftmanship that went into making it.
