  • National Archives Store Exclusive
  • Two-tone ceramic
  • 14 oz.
  • Exclusive to the National Archives, this two-tone ceramic mug commemorates the extraordinary long marriage and partnership of George H. W. Bush and Barbara Pierce. Generously proportioned for hot beverages, this is a fun mug that pays tribute to one of our country’s favorite first couples.

  • George H. W. Bush and Barbara Pierce met at a school dance in 1941, and were married a few years later in 1945, when George returned home after serving as a pilot in World War II. Their 73 year marriage is the second longest in presidential history. The Bushes had six children: four sons and two daughters, one of whom died of leukemia at age three.

A THOUSAND POINTS OF LIGHT!

What a great way to commemorate GHWB's presidency with him and Barbara displaying their great personal affection for each other. Behind every great president is an even greater wife, and Mrs. B did not fall short. When I see this mug, I think of GHWB's Jan 1989 inauguration speech, " I have spoken of a thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Nation, doing good. We will work hand in hand, encouraging, sometimes leading, sometimes being led, rewarding..." Beautiful mug, excellent color combinations, a quality product befitting of the office of the president.
